Selena Daughtrey-Andersen, a native Virginian, has been a resident of Huntingtown, Maryland, for 21 years. She is a life-long animal lover, with a strong affinity for horses. Selena graduated from Virginia Tech in 1980 with a degree in Animal Science, and worked in the Veterinarian and Equine industry prior to starting a successful pet sitting business in 1986, in Huntsville, Alabama. Moving closer to her Virginia home, she purchased a small farm in Calvert County in 1989 and began developing it into a multi-faceted animal care business. In 2001, Selena incorporated the many aspects of her operation under the name "Canaan Farms" and continues to develop and cultivate the business. She is an accomplished rider and riding instructor, having been certified as a Level II instructor. She teaches both Western and English and enjoys bringing the world of horses to children of all ages. Adding to her diverse background and free spirit, Selena is an athlete (runner, racquetball player, body builder), and an artist specializing in collagraphs, watercolor, etchings and other various media. She is a founding member of "Art Works at 7th", an award winning art gallery located in North Beach. Selena enjoys all aspects of her business, art, and athletics, but is a simple farm girl at heart.
