Brittany Sharps
Riding Instructor

Brittany Sharps has been a riding instructor for 15 years but has had a passion for riding and horses for a lifetime.

"I teach balance-seat riding with an emphasis on dressage,"Brittany Sharps said. "I am a firm believer in students learning to focus on riding but also learn from the ground about horsemanship."

Sharps has trained with dressage coaches Christian Garwig and Patrick Tigchelaar in first and second level dressage.

"I have trained, and started, horses for the last 18 years and use a natural horsemanship approach," Sharps said. "I truly love teaching and training, "it is my passion in life."

She looks forward to working with your beginner and seeing you soon.

Brittany Sharps welcomes calls and texts at 540-207-6608.

Miranda Reichard
Riding Instructor

Miranda Reichard started her journey as an Equestrian at Canaan Farms at the age of seven. She has been riding for going on 18 years, with experience in Liberty, Bareback, Therapeutic Riding, Running Barrels, Trail, Jumping, and Dressage. She’s trained in dressage with USDF Bronze medalist Elizabeth Schneider.

Miranda teaches balanced seat riding, and believes it’s a strong foundation to have going into any discipline.

Miranda believes it’s important to see your horse as a partner instead of an animal. Horsemanship has always been a form of therapy for her. & she’s hoping that’s what it can be for my students as well.
Miranda is excited to meet you, and to help you develop your love of horses and riding!

Anna Mozingo
Assistant Riding Instructor

Anna Mozingo is an Assistant Instructor with plenty of history here at Canaan Farms. She has been riding here since the age of 11 and has been a fan and important member of our barn family ever since. She is now our farm photographer and has been a camp counselor assisting with riding instruction and running the art program since her early teens. Anna earned her Bachelor Degree from St. Mary's College during our most challenging year of 2020 in Art History & Photography. Anna is now stepping up to further develop her teaching skills as a riding instructor after her many years as an instructor's aide.

Sophia Brumley
Riding Instructor

Sophia Brumley has been riding for twelve years and has been working at Canaan Farms for three years. Sophia teaches balance seat riding. Her favorite thing about Canaan Farms is the family-like environment, which she says is difficult to find in the horse world. She says that is what makes Canaan Farms such a special place to work and ride at.

Destiny Johnson
Riding Instructor

Destiny is our newest instructor and has ridden for Bridgewater's equestrian team. "I've had a passion for horses my entire life and have been riding for 6 years, coming up on 7! I strongly believe that students should not only be taught how to ride, but also how to build and connect with their partner." I have done everything ranging from hunt seat to eventing and love to teach others what I love to do.

She came highly recommended from Cypress Stables.

Tessa Conto

Tessa Gunnell
Riding Instructor

A life-long horsewoman, Tessa Conto began riding at a very young age. Growing up, she showed extensively and successfully in the hunters and equitation divisions under phenomenal trainers. She spent two years studying under a Grand Prix Dressage rider/instructor, and two years breezing race horses. Then made her way back to the hunter/jumper ring where she managed, trained, and traveled the East Coast with a very successful show barn competing on the "A" circuit. Even during her 4 year enlistment in the Army as an Airborne Medic, she has dedicated her life to the care and betterment of the horse. Tessa has over 15 years of experience managing horse farms and riding programs, and 17 years of experience instructing students of all ages and levels as well as training and re-training horses ("problem horses" especially). In her years, Tessa has developed a deep understanding of the horse which she passes on to her students, along with exceptional horsemanship and excellent, correct, and efficient riding. Tessa is available to teach on a lesson horse or pony or your own mount, for fun or with goals of competition at any level.
